Have you ever had one of those days when something happens that you hadn't planned? Today was my day. The morning started well with a trip into Newcastle. When we got home we had the brilliant idea of having a nice family walk along the river into Durham, enjoy a coffee at the coffee shop then walk back to the car. When we set off on the return journey I suggested that I would go back with my youngest in tow and bring the car back. The mistake I made was not checking my pocket to make sure I had the car keys!! Two mile further on I realised and went to phone my wife to tell her. The second mistake I made was not charging my phone before I left!! No problem, I would find a phone box and call her. Mistake number three was not having any money on me. I decided to walk(with my youngest on my shoulders) one and a half miles to a friends house and get International Rescue on the case. When I called my wife she had already returned to the car and was driving round looking for me. Looking back, it would have been easier to have stayed home then I wouldn't have a swollen knee and taking pain killers. Any suggestions for a more relaxing life beyond the classroom would be very welcome.
