It doesn't seem like a week since the holidays started. It always goes to quickly. On the first Saturday we left for a small camp site in the grounds of Clovely Hall Christian Retreat Centre. For those who have never been it looks like it is straight from the set of a Scooby Doo movie. This proved to be a very secluded little spot and for the first few nights we were the only people there; even the hall was closed. The weather was very kind to us although we did have some snow mid week. Unlike most of the surrounding area we only had a very small covering which went just as quickly. We saw a lot of the surrounding area. We were very close to the Iron Bridge and even managed to see distant relatives in a lovely little village called Leek. If you haven't been to that part of the country I strongly recommend it. Thursday saw the arrival of guests at the hall and we welcomed the company. As you can see from the photos we had a visit to the Coalport pottery where the girls painted a rose. The result was brilliant and it will take pride of place for years to come. As you can see from the photos we managed to fit some boat building into the schedule. You can also get an insight into our viewing habits when inside a caravan on a cold night!!
By the time we left on the Saturday morning we had company on the camp site. It is always a shame when you have to come home but we had good reason to. This morning the girls were doing their first steward duty at church. They had been practising in front of the caravan mirror and trying to get their handshake correct. They managed it without any problems and everybody commented on how nice it was to see them when they arrived.
A very nice start to the holiday and we have returned stress free and looking forward to the next seven days. Tomorrow we are being visited by some very good friends. We only see them a few times during the year which is never enough.
