the weather wasn't bad considering. It was very cold during the night but that is what heaters are for!! Three of the mornings I cycled with my eldest into Bridlington where she had a fried egg sandwich and I had a very welcome coffee. This warmed us up for cycle along the sea front back to the caravan.
The main day out was a visit to the North York Moors Railway. We got on the Halloween special at Pickering and went right through to Goathland. The idea was that the witches, who were on the train with us, would rally the children into looking for clues at each station. The Boss and I sheltered from the cold and drank hot chocolate while the girls ran round looking for the clues.
We managed to have a look inside the garage from Heartbeat. It wasn't that interesting really but the girls enjoyed it. The trouble with old steam trains is that they are very temperamental. By the end of the day we were an hour behind schedule. This meant that we didn't get back to the camp site in time for the girls to get dressed up in their witches costume and go around the vans. They did manage to go to their friends caravan and exchange some contraband. We then put the heating on and had some warm soup.
A visit to Bridlington wouldn't be complete without going into Vanilla. Their ice creams have to be seen to be believed.
